FORDHAM FINISHES 7th AT STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS!! The Swimming and Diving
team competed in the NY State high school championships featuring the fastest competition in the entire state. The team sent
13 athletes, the most ever in the CHSAA. Despite a slow start at trials on Friday, the team finished 7th best in the state.
The weekend was highlighted by Matt Krey winning the 200 Individual Medley in a school record time and becoming only the 2nd
State Champion in team history. Sophomore diver Philip Truong placed second in the diving competition and Mike McVicker was
5th overall in the 100 Breaststroke. Other outstanding performances were put in by Mike Panzarino, 15th in the 500 Freestyle;
Nick Turner and John Gallagher 17th and 28th in diving, respectively; Kyle Chow, 18th in the 100 Backstroke, Mike McVicker,
23rd in the Individual Medley; and Matt Krey, 10th in the 100 Freestyle. The relay team of Kyle Chow, Mike McVicker,
Joe Buchheit and Aiden Kennon finished 18th.

FORDHAM DEFENDS ITS CHSAA TITLE FOR THE 2nd YEAR!!
Led by double winners Mike McVicker and Mike Panzarino the team battled Chaminade through
numerous lead changes during the meet. McVicker set three schools records: 1 in the 200IM set in 1995, another by resetting
his own in the 100 Breaststroke and the third as part of the 200 medley relay with Kyle Chow, Joe Bucchiet and Aiden Kennon.
In the diving portion of the meet, the team swept 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th with Phillip Troung breaking the school record, Nick
Turner, and John Gallagher all making states and Miguel Hummel taking 4th. Matt Krey was awarded the Jack Kennedy career award after
a great swimming career at Fordham Prep. Nick Turner was awarded the Fran Schnaar diving career award. Other outstanding
performances were put in by Brian Lyons, Peter Cahill, Greg Accarino, John Accarino, Andrew Ellman, Sean Powers, Joe Casino,
Connor Downey, Chris Luboja, Jesus Jaile and William Strobel. The team will compete at the New York State Championships with
13 qualifiers next month at Eisenhower Park. It’s the first back to back Championship since 1995 and the first time
winning both the dual meet season and championships in the same season since 1992. Congratulations to the team on truly
one of the greatest seasons in the history of swimming and diving team.

JANUARY 24th, FORDHAM TRAVELED TO CHAMINADE HIGH SCHOOL IN LONG ISLAND. BOTH TEAMS HAD AN UNDEFEATED SEASON UNTIL THIS
MEET. FORDHAM HAS NOT GONE UNDEFEATED IN OVER A DECADE. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE SWIMMERS
AND DIVERS!!!

McVicker breaks 16 year old record!! The swimming and diving team took on the Friars of St. Anthony's. Lead
by a school record setting swim by Mike McVicker in the 100 breaststroke, besting the old mark set over 16 years ago by coach
Dominick Galimi, the team defeated St. Athony's running their record to 7-0. Other oustanding perfromances were put in
by Phillip Truong, Nick Turner and John Gallgher in the diving and Peter Cahill, Christian Lambow, Sean Powers, Jesus Jaile,
Connor Downey, Brendan Donnelly, John Bronzo, Christian Wright and Thibualt Vincent. The team picks up after midterms against
Chaminade in a match up of two undefeated teams.
FORDHAM BEATS IONA!!! The swimming and diving began the second half of the season
against rival Iona Prep. Led by dual winner Matt Krey, the team go off a strong start with great performances by Brian Lyons,
Peter Cahill, Greg Accarino and Patrick Banks to take an early lead into the diving competition. After a 1-2-3 finish by Miguel
Hummel, John Gallagher and Liam Doherty the team went on to outscore Iona by over 40 points. Other outstanding performances
were put in by Mike Panzarino, Mike McVicker who narrowly missed the team reocrd, Kyle Chow, Joe Casino, Christian Wright,
Andrew Ellman, Mathew Bernacchia and Dan Murphy. The team takes on St. Athony's Wed before midterms.

2007 CHSAA SWIMMING AND DIVING CHAMPIONS!!!

The swimming and
diving team completed their season by snapping Chaminades 6 year winning streak at championships and winning by 37 points for the team's first
title since 1995. An unprecedented 1,2,3,4 in the diving event with freshman Phillip Troung winning and Nick Turner getting second
and both qualified for States with James O'Neill getting 3rd and Liam Dougherty getting 4th. In the swimming portion the swimming team had Matt Krey win a CHSAA title in the 100 Free. The 200 Medley relay team of Matt Krey, Mike McVicker, LB
Holten and Chris Luboja will also be going to states after setting a school record that was 15 years old, as well
as State Qualifiers Mike Panzarino, Kyle Chow, Mike Hughes and Andrew Ellman. Other outstanding performances where put in by Greg Accarino, John Accarino, Joe Buchheit,
John Gold, Sean Morrissey, Kyle Chow, Brian
Lyons, Jesus Jaile, Sean Powers,
John Gold, Aiden Kennon and Connor Downey all making finals in their events. The team looks to build on this Championship
at States in 2 weeks.
Dominck Galimi was named CHSAA Division A Coach of the year!!!
The team also captured the Fran Schnaar spirit and sportsmanship award voted
on by the coaches of the league.
